Lean not on economic laws
With 24/7 news reporting on recent policy developments affecting the economy, it’s good to remember what the Bible teaches—to trust in God above all else. Hymn 519, from our Christian Science hymnal supplement, says it very well:
Lean on the sustaining infinite
And blessings will be yours.
Lean not on person, place, or thing,
Or economic laws;
But lean upon all-blessing God
Who will all needs supply
And give to all abundant good
That money cannot buy.
The words are from a poem titled Three L's for Life, by Jill Gooding, published in the Christian Science Sentinel.
Uncertainty, nervous predictions and wild stock market fluctuations cannot bring fear when we understand the laws of God. The knowledge that divine Principle, Love, controls and balances all things in God’s universe brings assurance.
This Wednesday, April 9, 2025 the readings at our Testimony Meeting will address this topic. We welcome you to gather with us in person at Brookdale of Glen Ellyn or by Zoom. Those attending will have time to share inspiration and healings they have experienced. It will be great to see you there!
Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
(Bible, Deuternomy 28)
