Healing oil

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head,” (Bible, Psalms 133)

Oil soothes ruffled feathers. Perfume refreshes and calms. Oil and perfume, in their spiritual sense, can indicate the sweetness of friendship, an affectionate welcome of guests, joy, gratitude and loving care of others with mercy and forgiveness.

These are qualities which Jesus lived and demonstrated to others. He was consecrated and anointed with them. They are the qualities needed in healing illness—mental or physical. In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, the Christian Science textbook written by Mary Baker Eddy, she conveys the importance of caring for and loving others this way:

“If we would open their prison doors for the sick, we must first learn to bind up the broken-hearted.” (Science and Health, page 366)

Come for some healing “oil”, in its spiritual meaning, tonight at our weekly Testimony Meeting. That is, join us for some “consecration; charity; gentleness; prayer; heavenly inspiration”—the definition of “oil” in our textbook cited above.

The meeting begins with readings at 7:30 pm in the Roosevelt Room at Brookdale of Glen Ellyn or by Zoom. We also sing hymns, share inspiration and healings we have experienced through Christian Science.
