Put off limits of aging

Our country is sure having a big conversation about old age right now. And that’s probably a good thing since concerns about our government are important. Christian Science, however, has a very different perspective on age than most of the world. It stems from the Bible and Christ Jesus’ teachings which emphasize immortality instead of limitation, illness and death.

By acquainting thought with this spiritual sense of being, the mortality of matter shrinks in importance and can be put under foot, so to speak. The Bible states it this way: "... put off the old man with his deeds;... put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:" (Colossians 3: 9, 10)

The readings tonight will include this statement: "Life is eternal. We should find this out, and begin the demonstration thereof. Life and goodness are immortal. Let us then shape our views of existence into loveliness, freshness, and continuity, rather than into age and blight." (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, page 246:27, by Mary Baker Eddy)

Come hear more on how to handle the belief of aging and how to heal problems related to it. We meet at 7:30 pm on Wednesdays, in person at Brookdale of Glen Ellyn, located at 60 Nicoll Way. The public is always welcome. Just ask the receptionist for the Christian Science meeting in the Roosevelt Room.
