Fatherhood and Forgiveness
Yesterday, I watched my neighbor walking around his yard while tenderly holding his crying toddler. He gave the most gentle instruction on why it was not good for the little one to do what he had done and the better way to act. This relates well to Jesus’ new testament of love and forgiveness.
Tonight the readings at our 7:30 pm Testimony Meeting will share Biblical progress from old testament laws to new testament fulfillment of them in what Jesus taught. Discipline, correction and instruction are necessary for children but the methods have progressed over the years.
Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son relates the return of an extravagant and wayward son to the father’s house. The son returns with a new and humble desire for reform. Instead of condemnation and estrangement, the son is met by the father with joy and forgiveness. In the Bible, we see the gradual progression in the role of a father (representing God) from an unrelenting punisher to a wise counselor who guides with tender forgiveness.
Hope you can join us tonight, at 7:30 pm, for readings from our Pastor—two books—the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. The readings will be followed by testimonies of healing and inspiration shared by attendees.
