No cyber web of trouble
God’s daily protection, our spiritual defense, rules out a spider web—or cyber web—of trouble in our lives. We can learn to pray effectively in Christian Science for protection from cyber crime, or any evil influence, whether aimed directly at ourselves or coming to us as effects from a another party.
Political deep fakes, election interference, foreign-influenced operations which aim to increase divisiveness have no chance of success if we remain spiritually alert, carefully questioning information received through social media and the internet.
Speaking of being beware of dangerous men and situations, Jesus said to his disciples: “Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.” We can pray that those working to protect systems will be guided to know where to look for problems. You can read this helpful article on the subject from the Christian Science Sentinel: "Cybersecurity—every prayer counts" by Martha C. Sarvis.
Foreign influencers or cyber attackers, working through subtle techniques, can't infiltrate thought when it is prayed-up and on guard. Mary Baker Eddy, the discoverer and founder of Christian Science wrote: “Evil thoughts and aims reach no farther and do no more harm than one’s belief permits.” (From Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, page 234)
Hear what our pastor, two books—the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures—has to say about this topic tonight. We meet in person at Brookdale of Glen Ellyn, at 7:30 pm, as well as by Zoom. The public is always welcome.
