Beyond commercial Christmas
A wonderful season is here. If busyness and commercialism are encroaching, you may want a refresh with a more spiritual focus. The symbols—decorations, parties and holiday gift giving—only hint at the divine Love shown in the nativity of our Saviour, Christ Jesus.
Our Wednesday Testimony Meeting, on December 4th, will lighten the tasks and bring out the spiritual birth. Join us at 7:30 pm at Brookdale in Glen Ellyn. Everyone is welcome. You can also join us by Zoom.
The words of this hymn we will sing, from the Christian Science Hymnal, are adapted from a poem by John Greenleaf Whittier.
The outward symbols disappear
From him whose inward sight is clear,
And small must be the choice of days
To him who fills them all with praise.
Keep while ye need it, brothers mine,
With honest zeal your Christmas sign,
But judge not him who every morn
Feels in his heart the Lord Christ born.
