Shine the Light on Corruption
After watching the news last night I was lamenting to myself that there is so much corruption in society – in governments, businesses, churches and individuals. Then, when reading our weekly Bible Lesson, I realized that one of the missions of Christ is to show us how to escape from corruption. (2 Peter 1: 2-4)
What a relief that people can feel the Christ presence, which is continually shining the light on whatever is corrupt, exposing it to the Truth and renovating human thought to be in sync with the divine Principle, Love.
Following the example of Jesus, we can see beyond human corruption to the spiritual idea – indestructible and incorruptible – which is standing strong as the real nature of all individuals and institutions, even though they may not perceive it at the moment. And, we can actively identify everyone with this, even before it is apparent.
Mary Baker Eddy wrote in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, on page 476:
Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God’s own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick.
