Lean on God

When my husband and I were planning a move to Illinois from a southern state, the daunting task of finding a buyer for our house and moving quickly for my husband's job made me a little nervous, to say the least. I called a Christian Science Practitioner, an individual who is in the full time practice of healing through Christian Science, to help me find peace about this. One of the things she said was that God connects all right ideas and I could lean on this truth. Even if someone was as far away as Australia, but was the right person to have our house, we could trust that we would be connected through God's universal law of harmony.

And so it proved to be. I had great peace and expectation through learning to place my confidence in God as all good, sustaining and guiding our lives. Even though the house had been on the market for three years when we bought it, just six months later the first person who saw our listing bought the house rapidly. There was no financial loss from having to sell so quickly.

When we moved north, every possible need was taken care of. Even our extra vehicle was driven right to our area by a friend coming to Illinois for school. He was blessed, too, in finding a way to transport himself and his belongings.

In her book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, the discoverer and founder of Christian Science, opens with this line: "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, today is big with blessings." This week's Bible Lesson, titled "God the Preserver of Man", incorporates this passage and shows us how "angels", or loving messages from God, point us in the right direction. It shows how our sustenance is really based on God, Spirit, not circumstances, money, things or people.

What joy! You can prove this in your experience, too. Knowing God as infinite Love, allowed me to turn away from worry and put my trust in His care. That was a huge comfort and governed every detail of our relocation.
